Today, Trackbase is a growing team with a shared passion for shaping the future of rail through expertise, innovation, and collaboration.
Our Story
Trackbase began with three people and a shared frustration, stemming from decades of combined experience working within the UK Rail industry.
Between us, we’d sat on both sides of the table. We’d delivered technology and data projects for the railways and had also watched good ideas stall. We’d seen projects run over budget and over time, we’d seen systems go live with less functionality than promised, we’d seen interfaces which nobody wanted to use, and we’d seen systems being delivered with little in the way or support or training to help people adopt them.
Why did this happen? Time and time again, we’d see suppliers without domain rail expertise, teams constantly changing every few months, and legacy frameworks that priced out anyone but a handful of expensive incumbents.
We didn’t think that was good enough and became tired of this cycle, so we decided to build something different.
Rail People Who Built a Software Company
Trackbase is not a generalist technology consultancy that works in rail. We’re rail people first; we’re software developers, engineers, analysts and rail specialists with a deep understanding of rail technologies and know how the railway actually operates.
We understand the data and can build the software needed. It’s why we can see problems the way the railway sees them, not just the way a specification document describes them, and this is why we can deliver where others have struggled.
Where We Are Now
We’re still guided by the belief that started this journey: our belief that rail technology has the power to transform the industry and benefit its customers for the better, and that delivering it well shouldn’t require compromises on price, pace, or quality.
We’re still early in that journey, but our goals are clear. We’ve set out to become the team that the industry turns to by default. Not because we’re the biggest, but because of the way we work, and the results we deliver.
