// Who We Are
About Us.
// How Did Trackbase Start
The Overview.
Trackbase was created with a desire to do things differently in UK Rail. Too often, large incumbent suppliers offer poor value for money, slow delivery, and minimal innovation. Trackbase has always wanted to be different, and we believe that rail data has the power to transform the railway industry for the better.
As a company we have years of combined experience in rail operations, data, and technology and, collectively at our core, we’re all passionate about helping the rail industry improve and do things better. We know the challenges the sector faces, and we understand both the complexities of the systems it runs on and the reasons why big initiatives often fail.

We're rail people first. Our team knows the core industry systems, data feeds and operational processes because we've worked with them for years, so we start from an understanding of how the job is actually done rather than building that understanding at your cost.
We are the system integrator on national GB rail programmes. That means holding the technical brief, bringing in the right specialists around it, and remaining accountable for what gets delivered. -
We know what it takes for a major initiative in the rail industry to succeed, and we understand why so many fail to deliver. We've led industry-wide change programmes as well as targetted analysis for individual teams. We’ve built systems now running live across the network, and produced the analysis operators rely on to make operational decisions.
That experience shapes how we advise. We'll develop the solution that's right for your operation, not the one that suits us. Whether that means building something new, adapting what you already have, or telling you a technology route isn't worth taking, we'll work in your interests.
The same rigour applies to the analysis behind those decisions: performance, resourcing, fatigue and compliance, evidenced properly and written for the people who have to act on it.

Where nothing off-the-shelf fits the railway, we build it. We've developed products spanning train performance, passenger information and workforce rostering, all now in daily operational use with the teams who asked for them.
Our engineers work in rail, not just in software. They know the industry data structures, the operational constraints and the edge cases the railway throws up, so systems are designed around how the operation actually runs rather than how it looks on paper. That applies equally to the data underneath: we work with industry feeds every day and know where they're reliable, where they aren't, and what that means for anything built on top of them.
The result is software that fits the job it was built for. Whether that's a platform used across the network or a tool for a single team, it's built to be used in daily operation, not demonstrated once and left alone.
// Specialist Technical Solutions for the Rail Industry
Our Brand Pillars.
Independence
We are wholly owned by our founders with no outside investment. We believe this allows us to plan and deliver around the needs of our customers rather than shareholders.
Cost-Effective and Flexible Delivery
We're a team of rail experts without the overheads of a large consultancy, and we charge based on what the work is worth rather than focusing on the hours we can bill. That lets us shape each engagement around the problem and scope delivery in increments.
Genuine Rail Domain Expertise
We're fully dedicated to UK rail, and our people understand railway data and have a passion for rail technology. This is why we can deliver where others have failed. We are rail people who built a software company, not vice-versa.
Continuity of Team and Relationships
We never start a client engagement with an expert resource and then remove that, assigning more generic consultants to a task. The team you work with at the outset will be the team you work with until the end, keeping the same people on a project from inception to completion.
Built on Honesty
Our independence and rail-domain knowledge allow us in all instances to provide an honest view to our clients. We aren’t going to hoist a solution on you for the sake of Trackbase’s bottom-line. If you don't need us or someone is better placed to deliver, we'll say so.
Collaborative Ownership and Scalability
We truly believe in the idea that rail data is not owned by anyone and should be used for the public-good. As such, we will always work openly with you to scale projects on your terms: whether that be fully outsourced solutions to us, sharing IP or full knowledge transfer, our flexible delivery models allow us to do this.
